Tel Aviv, Israel – [09/12/2025]
Maccabi Healthcare Services has launched a robust and frictionless authentication solution for access to the Maccabi Online portal. This solution is based on Unibeam’s SIM-based authentication technology and implemented by VerifyHub, Unibeam’s exclusive distributor in Israel.
The new solution allows Maccabi members to access their personal area securely and seamlessly. They can do this without passwords, SMS one-time codes, or compromising user experience. This significantly strengthens identity protection.
A First-of-Its-Kind Deployment in Israel’s Healthcare Sector
Maccabi is the first healthcare provider in Israel to deploy this type of SIM-based authentication in production. This adoption reflects Maccabi’s commitment to leading digital healthcare services while remaining at the forefront of cybersecurity and data protection.
Unlike traditional authentication methods, such as passwords or SMS OTPs, Unibeam’s technology provides a much higher level of security. It is resistant to common fraud vectors, including impersonation, phishing, and SIM-swap attacks. This is achieved without requiring codes or text messages, resulting in a smooth, low-friction user experience.

Addressing Modern Threats with Deterministic Identity Verification
Kobi Katz, CIO and EVP of Technology, Maccabi Healthcare Services, commented:
“Protecting our members’ personal data is a top priority for Maccabi. With the rise of fraud attacks driven by AI agents — capable of sounding, looking, and behaving like real users — the entire industry needs to rethink its approach. We were looking for a solution that genuinely addresses this challenge, not a cosmetic one. Unibeam’s technology is the only solution we found that delivers a meaningful security improvement without compromising user experience. That is why we chose to move forward with it.”
Unibeam’s solution relies on a deterministic correlation of the SIM card, mobile device, and phone number. This enables strong identity verification directly at the mobile network level.
Partner Ecosystem Driving Secure Digital Transformation
Ran Ben David, CEO of Unibeam, added:
“Maccabi continues to lead Israel’s digital healthcare landscape — not only in service innovation but also in information security. Their decision to adopt Unibeam’s authentication technology demonstrates a deep commitment to protecting member data, even against the most advanced threats. The SIM card present in every mobile phone is a powerful, reliable, and deterministic anchor for digital identity. We are proud to be part of this initiative.”
The project was implemented and integrated by VerifyHub, Unibeam’s exclusive distributor in Israel and a specialist in advanced authentication solutions and complex enterprise integrations.
Kobi Azran, Co-CEO of VerifyHub, commented:
“In recent years, we have seen a growing number of impersonation attempts and attacks targeting digital healthcare services. Unibeam’s technology, combined with our experience in deploying large-scale authentication infrastructures, enables a real and measurable shift in security posture for critical systems such as healthcare portals.”
Now Live — and Expanding Forward
The solution is now live on the Maccabi Online portal. It is expected to expand to additional digital and operational touchpoints as part of Maccabi’s ongoing digital transformation roadmap.
The Future of Digital Identity Security
As we look ahead, the importance of secure digital identities cannot be overstated. The rise of cyber threats necessitates innovative solutions that can adapt to evolving challenges. Unibeam’s SIM-based technology stands out as a leader in this space. It not only enhances security but also simplifies the user experience.
By eliminating the need for passwords and SMS codes, we can reduce friction for users while significantly improving security. This is crucial for businesses of all sizes needing secure, simple authentication.
In conclusion, Maccabi Healthcare Services’ adoption of Unibeam’s SIM-based authentication is a significant step forward in the digital healthcare landscape. It sets a precedent for others to follow. As we continue to innovate, we must prioritize security without sacrificing user experience.
